Overview
Artifi Labs is a software studio that designs and builds websites, apps, and blockchain products for other companies. Businesses hire it to plan a product, design how it looks and works, write the code, or add engineers to an in-house team1. On blockchain projects, the same team covers the whole build, from the on-chain programs to the screens people use2.
Artifi Labs is based in Portugal, and the blockchain projects in its portfolio run on Cardano1. It handles design, parts of the protocol development, and ongoing technical management for Liqwid Finance, a Cardano lending app where people borrow and lend crypto3. The studio also built Open DJED, a public website for using DJED, a stablecoin (a token built to hold a steady price) that COTI and Input Output developed4.
Key Features
- A plan before any code. Artifi Labs opens each engagement with discovery and strategy work, covering technical research, system design, and a roadmap, so clients know what will be built before development starts1.
- Design and engineering from one team. The studio runs user research, prototypes, and design systems (shared libraries of reusable screen elements), then builds web apps, mobile apps, desktop software, and connections to other services1.
- Blockchain apps from contract to screen. Artifi Labs writes smart contracts, programs that run on a blockchain and follow fixed rules, and wires them to wallets and user interfaces. Its Web3 page lists Cardano, Ethereum, and Solana among supported chains2.
- Upkeep for protocols already in use. The team offers monitoring, maintenance, and new features for live blockchain protocols2, the kind of long-running work Artifi Labs does for Liqwid3.
- Software clients can sell as their own. White-label development delivers finished platforms that agencies and businesses rebrand and ship under their own name1.
What to Expect
Artifi Labs sells services, so there is no app to download or account to create. Visitors find pages describing each service, a portfolio of client projects, short team bios, and a contact form for describing a project1. Companies that need extra capacity can hire dedicated engineers or a whole team, from filling one skill gap to taking over a product workstream1.
Open DJED shows how the studio works in practice. DJED's off-chain logic, the code that prepares transactions before they reach the blockchain, was never publicly documented, so Artifi Labs rebuilt it by studying past transactions on Cardano4. The Open DJED source code is public under the GPL-3.0 license, which lets anyone reuse and modify it5, and Minswap used it as reference material when it added DJED to its trading aggregator4,6.
Project Catalyst, Cardano's community funding program, pays for Open DJED's upkeep through a proposal the team submitted under the name Artifex Labs7. COTI announced a collaboration with Artifi Labs on DJED's long-term development, covering protocol upgrades and infrastructure work8.
