Overview
Cexplorer Wallet Activity is a free chart that shows how many wallets are active on a blockchain network over time, and how many show up for the first time. It suits researchers, analysts and curious ADA holders who want to see whether everyday use of the network is growing, holding steady or slowing down. The chart counts activity two ways: by payment address, which holds spendable ADA, and by stake address, which groups a wallet's payment addresses for staking1.
The chart is the Wallet activity tab in the account analytics section of Cexplorer, an independent Cardano block explorer, meaning a website for searching the public record of transactions. The Cexplorer team builds the explorer and also runs a stake pool and serves as a DRep, an elected voting representative in Cardano governance2. Neighboring tabs in the same section cover top staking accounts, top addresses and wealth composition.
Key Features
- Two views of who is active. Cexplorer Wallet Activity plots unique payment addresses and unique stake addresses as separate lines, one point per epoch, Cardano's regular reporting period1.
- First-time wallets at a glance. Two dashed lines, hidden until switched on, count new payment addresses and new stake addresses, showing how many wallets became active for the first time in each epoch1.
- Adjustable time windows. A range selector offers preset windows from 10 to 500 days, each labeled with its length in five-day epochs, while the all-time view is reserved for Cexplorer PRO members3.
- Exact numbers on hover. Pointing at any spot on the chart shows the epoch number, its calendar dates and the exact count for each visible line, and clicking a legend entry hides or shows that line1.
- Downloadable chart data. Members who connect a wallet holding a Cexplorer PRO NFT, a digital membership token, can save the chart as a PNG image or its numbers as a CSV spreadsheet file4.
What to Expect
Casual visitors land on a single line chart titled Wallets, set to the last 30 days by default5. Two solid lines appear first, one for payment addresses and one for stake addresses. Switching on the dashed new-address lines lets you compare fresh arrivals against total activity in the same view.
A payment address holds spendable ADA, and a single wallet can hold many of them. A stake address links those payment addresses together for staking, the process of delegating ADA to earn rewards6. Because several payment addresses can share one stake address, the two lines measure activity at different levels of detail.
Analysts who want longer history or raw numbers can look at Cexplorer PRO, a membership that adds data export, custom wallet labels and a basic API key, a code that lets other software pull Cexplorer data7. Developers curious about how the chart is built can read the explorer's front-end code on GitHub, published by Vellum Labs. Readers comparing several measures of network growth can set Cexplorer Wallet Activity beside other adoption metrics dashboards that track usage in different ways.
