Overview
Dotare is a charitable endowment on Cardano that lets people pool their ADA to fund a basic income for others. Supporters, called benefactors, pledge ADA into a shared fund that is invested to earn returns, and those returns are paid out as monthly distributions to enrolled beneficiaries around the world.
The system runs on the Cardano network and is built around two on-chain pieces. The first is ADAD, a token Dotare describes as a 1:1 ADA-backed redemption token: when a benefactor pledges ADA, they receive an equal amount of ADAD as a claim on their deposit. The second is the DOTAR stake pool, which stakes pledged ADA to help generate the returns that fund payouts.
Key Features
- Pledge ADA and get a redemption token. Benefactors deposit ADA and receive an equal amount of ADAD, which Dotare describes as a 1:1 ADA-backed redemption token1; they can redeem it for their original ADA at any time, and the ADAD is burned when they do2.
- Income funded by returns, not principal. Pledged ADA is staked and, according to Dotare, deployed into DeFi protocols to generate returns; the project says only those returns are distributed, so the underlying fund is meant to keep working over time2.
- Monthly distributions to verified beneficiaries. People enrolled as beneficiaries receive recurring payments funded by the endowment, with eligibility handled through an application and verification process3.
- Run by a named team with public code. Founded in the United States, Dotare is led by Christopher Erckert (CEO) and co-founder Dorien Pine, with Daniel Murawsky as lead developer; it maintains public GitHub repositories and runs the DOTAR stake pool on Cardano3.
What to Expect
Visitors will find a clear split between the two sides of the system. If you want to give, the benefactor flow walks you through pledging ADA and receiving ADAD in return; the project says you can redeem that ADAD back to ADA whenever you choose2. If you are seeking support, the beneficiary side describes how to apply and be verified for monthly distributions3.
Getting started happens through Dotare's web app, which separates the benefactor and beneficiary journeys so each side can act on its own. The website, about page, and blog explain the mission and approach in plain language, and the team and DOTAR stake pool can be checked directly on Cardano3.
