Overview
Genius Yield is a Cardano trading platform that pairs two things in one app. The first is an order-book marketplace where people buy and sell tokens at the price they choose. The second is a section called Smart Liquidity Vaults, a beta feature where preset strategy templates place and adjust orders on deposited tokens to earn trading fees12.
Genius Yield is built around how Cardano works under the hood, which lets the platform process trades in parallel rather than one at a time. The platform's own community token is called GENS, and people who stake GENS receive a fifth of every trading fee paid on the platform2. The code behind Genius Yield has been reviewed by two independent security firms.
Key Features
- Trades fill at your price. Genius Yield uses a traditional order book, so a limit order fills at the price you set or better, not at a moving rate handled by a pool. Fills depend on matching orders being available, and larger trades may fill in parts2.
- Smart Liquidity Vaults. Deposit tokens into a vault and pick a preset strategy template that places and adjusts orders to earn fees. The feature is in beta, and a fully automated agent mode is planned but not yet live1.
- Earn a share of every trade. Stake GENS and you receive 20% of all platform trading fees, paid out in the tokens that people actually traded. You can also stake Cardano tokens or NFTs alongside your GENS for extra perks2.
- Two independent audits. The security firm Tweag reviewed the marketplace code in 2022, and Anastasia Labs followed with a review of the order, NFT, and fee parts of the system. Audit summaries are public3.
- Open code anyone can read. Genius Yield's core software, including its trading robots and a developer toolkit called Atlas, is published openly for anyone to inspect or reuse4.
What to Expect
Getting started means connecting a Cardano wallet to app.geniusyield.co and placing an order. You can do a quick market order, set a target price with a limit order, or set conditions that fire a trade only when something specific happens2. With a limit order, the price you set is a hard bound, so a fill cannot land at a worse price, though it still depends on matching orders being available.
If you would rather not manage orders by hand, you can put tokens into Smart Liquidity Vaults, choose a preset strategy template, and let it place and adjust orders for you. Profits can be set to reinvest automatically into the same position. GENS staking runs separately from a dedicated dashboard, where rewards build up in the mix of tokens that have been traded across the platform and can be claimed at any time2.
Genius Yield has a community DAO, though on-chain voting activity has been minimal. The team has a public program for reporting security issues. You can compare Genius Yield with other Cardano DEXs in this directory.
