Overview

GovChainLab is a Portuguese-language YouTube channel that teaches people how to take part in blockchain governance: how to pick someone to vote on your behalf, how to vote yourself, and how to stand for election. It is made for Brazilian and Portuguese-speaking viewers. Short screen-recorded tutorials sit alongside recordings of the community events its founders run.

It covers Cardano, whose governance system lets ADA holders either vote on protocol decisions themselves or hand that vote to a delegated representative, known as a DRep. Daniela Alves and Maria Carmo started the channel under a grant from Intersect, a member-based governance organization, for a project named "Cardano Governance: Educating for a Decentralized Future"¹.

Key Features

• Governance tasks shown click by click. One video follows the delegation of a vote to a DRep inside the Eternl wallet from start to finish². Others cover becoming a DRep³, voting for Cardano's Constitutional Committee⁴, and using SanchoNet GovTool, the testnet interface for Cardano governance⁵.
• Recorded community discussions. Twelve online events ran under the Hub Cardano Online Brasil banner, four of them Town Halls and eight of them X Spaces, on subjects including Brazilian crypto tax rules, digital crime, tokenising real-world assets, and what happens to crypto holdings after someone dies⁶.
• A written and audio companion for the event recordings. Each Hub Cardano Online Brasil session is paired with a Portuguese summary post on the project's Substack, which doubles as its home page, and an episode of the Cardano Hub Brasil podcast⁷.
• A plain-language Midnight workshop. A long-form session covers Midnight, a privacy-focused network connected to Cardano, explaining what Dust is and how to produce and delegate it, with four short clips cut from it for viewers who want the highlights⁸.
• Footage from in-person events. The channel carries recordings made away from the desk, including a Cardano session at the Federal University of Technology in Paraná⁹ and an agricultural-technology talk to business-school students¹⁰.

What to Expect

Almost everything is in Portuguese. Titles and narration alike assume the viewer follows the language, which is the reason the channel exists: its own funding proposal argued that Brazil was under-represented in Cardano because the discussion happened in English or Spanish. Someone who does not read Portuguese can still follow the screen recordings, but the commentary will be lost.

The material splits into two shapes. Tutorials are short and task-based, walking through a single job at a time. Recordings of Hub Cardano Online Brasil Town Halls and X Spaces run from 39 minutes to one hour.

The Hub Cardano Online Brasil series was backed by a Project Catalyst grant of 68,000 ADA¹¹, delivered its twelve events across five months, and closed with a published report; the team's own conclusion there was that in-person events reached Brazilian audiences better than online ones did¹².
