Introduction

Overview

Andamio helps organizations give people digital credentials — things like course certificates, role badges, or proof that someone contributed to a project — and records them on Cardano so the recipient truly owns them1. Because the records live on a shared public network, a credential someone earns in one program stays valid anywhere else that uses Andamio, and recipients can carry it with them no matter which organization issued it. The organization handles the technical side so the person receiving the credential never has to think about the blockchain.

Andamio works in two ways, a bit like Stripe versus Shopify. Developers who want to build their own experiences can plug Andamio's credential system into their apps through a connection layer (an API). Organizations that don't write code can use the ready-made Andamio app directly — a website where they set up credentials, invite people, run courses, or manage contributor programs, all without touching any Cardano identity tools themselves2.

Key Features
  • Credentials people actually own. Every credential issued through Andamio lives on Cardano under the recipient's control, so it can be recognized by any app built on the protocol. Someone who earns a credential in one program keeps it for life and can use it elsewhere1.
  • Two ways to build with it. Developers can connect Andamio to their own apps through its API, and organizations without developers can run the whole thing through the hosted Andamio app. Both use the same credentials underneath2.
  • Audited by TxPipe. The smart contracts behind Andamio — the on-chain code that enforces the rules — were reviewed by TxPipe, a well-known Cardano security firm. The audit found six issues across different severity levels, and the Andamio team addressed all of them3.
  • Already used by real organizations. Intersect uses Andamio to track and pay open-source contributors working on Cardano. Syngenta issues credentials to agricultural field experts around the world. Toha Network records verified nature-restoration work as part of environmental financing4.
  • Open source. The code behind Andamio — the protocol tools, the starter app template, a command-line tool, an indexer, and the on-chain contracts — is published publicly on GitHub, so anyone can inspect, learn from, or build on it5.
What to Expect

If you're an organization that wants to issue credentials, you can sign in to the hosted Andamio app at mainnet.app.andamio.io, set up your credentials, and invite people by email. Your recipients simply sign up with an email address — they don't need to set up a crypto wallet or buy ADA, because your organization covers the small cost of recording things on Cardano. Everything looks like a normal website to them.

If you're a developer building your own product, the documentation at docs.andamio.io walks you through getting an API key and making your first credential within a few minutes. You'll find a starter app template built with Next.js (a popular web framework) that you can clone and customize2.

If you're a more technical reader curious about the protocol itself, the full details of how the on-chain code works are published alongside the security audit. Everything runs on Cardano's main network, and the source code for all the pieces lives on the Andamio-Platform GitHub organization5.
