Overview
Wisdom is a learning platform on Cardano where you take courses on crypto and get paid for finishing them. Lessons cover the basics of blockchain, decentralized finance (DeFi), smart contracts, and digital collectibles (NFTs). When you complete a course, the platform sends a reward in its own token, $WORK, straight to your Cardano wallet1. Anyone can also teach. Instructors design their own courses and earn from the people who sign up.
The platform was first called Work Courses and is built by a Cardano-native team called The Working Dead. Funding has come from two rounds of Project Catalyst, the community grant program for Cardano, totalling 472,000 ADA2. Founder Sean Davies passed away and is remembered in the site's footer; the rest of The Working Dead team keeps the project running.
Key Features
- Get paid for finishing courses. Complete a course and the platform sends $WORK tokens to the Cardano wallet you connected. The same token is also what instructors hold to lower their fees1.
- Lower fees for bigger fans. Instructors who hold more $WORK pay less to the platform. New instructors with no tokens pay a 50% fee, and that drops in ten steps down to 1% for those holding 500,000 $WORK1.
- Courses from well-known Cardano projects. Some of the biggest names in Cardano have their own courses on Wisdom, alongside lessons from independent teachers. Featured projects include the Cardano Foundation (a course on writing smart contracts in a language called Aiken), Minswap, Liqwid Finance, Strike Finance, and NMKR.
- Sign in with a Cardano wallet. You connect a Cardano wallet instead of using an email or social login. Your courses and certificates are tied to that wallet, so they stay yours.
- Backed by community funding. Wisdom has won two rounds of Project Catalyst funding from the Cardano community: 230,000 ADA in Fund 12 (finished) and 242,000 ADA in Fund 13 (under way). The funding goes toward growing its course library2.
What to Expect
You can browse the course catalogue without signing in, but to actually start a lesson, track your progress, or earn rewards you'll need to connect a Cardano wallet. Most courses are video-based with extra notes from the teacher. The Cardano Foundation's Aiken course runs as a step-by-step series building up to a small project, while shorter courses from partner projects focus on getting you up to speed on one specific tool.
Teachers get a different view. The creator side is built around setting up a course, choosing pricing, and chatting with students through Discord. There isn't much written guidance. The project's docs site is down and there's no whitepaper, so new teachers tend to take the Teach on Wisdom course or message the team on Discord.
