Introduction

Overview

Trust Wallet is a self-custody multi-chain wallet that enables users to store, manage, and interact with digital assets across more than 100 blockchains, including Cardano. It provides a unified interface for buying, selling, swapping, and staking cryptocurrency, along with a built-in DApp browser for Web3 access. Trust Wallet is available on iOS, Android, and as a Chrome browser extension.

For Cardano users, Trust Wallet offers native ADA management with built-in staking through stake pool delegation1. The wallet supports Cardano's on-chain governance model, requiring DRep delegation under the CIP-1694 framework to claim staking rewards. This integration allows Cardano holders to participate in network security and governance directly from within a single mobile wallet interface, without needing a separate Cardano-native wallet.

Key Features
  • Native ADA staking. Users can delegate ADA to stake pools with a minimum of 4 ADA, earning rewards while contributing to Cardano network security1.
  • Multi-chain asset management. Trust Wallet supports over 100 blockchains and millions of assets in a single interface, covering Cardano, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Solana, Bitcoin, and more2.
  • Security Scanner. A built-in risk monitoring tool that assigns risk levels to transactions and alerts users to potential threats such as malicious addresses or unsafe DApps3.
  • SWIFT smart contract wallet. An account abstraction-powered wallet that replaces seed phrases with biometric passkeys, supports gas payments in over 200 tokens, and enables one-click transactions4.
  • Fiat on-ramp and off-ramp. Direct purchasing and selling of ADA and other cryptocurrencies using over 100 fiat currencies within the app2.
What to Expect

Trust Wallet presents a clean, accessible interface suited to both newcomers and experienced users. Setting up a wallet requires no personal data or sign-up process. Adding Cardano involves searching for ADA within the app and enabling it as a visible asset. From there, users can buy ADA through integrated payment providers, receive it from external sources, or transfer from exchanges like Binance.

The staking experience is straightforward. Users navigate to the Earn section, select ADA, choose a stake pool validator, and confirm delegation. After the CIP-1694 governance upgrade, users must also delegate voting power to a DRep (or select Abstain/No Confidence) before claiming accumulated rewards1. This adds an extra step but aligns with Cardano's broader governance participation model.

Trust Wallet holds ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications and undergoes regular audits by firms including Halborn, Certik, Cure53, Kudelski, and Quantstamp3. Private keys are AES-encrypted and stored locally on the user's device. The wallet operates on a zero personal tracking policy, collecting no IP addresses or email data. Hardware wallet connectivity through Ledger provides an additional layer of cold storage security for users who want it.

One consideration: Trust Wallet is a multi-chain wallet, not a Cardano-native one. Its Cardano stake pool selection is more limited than dedicated Cardano wallets, and support for Cardano-specific features like native token management may lag behind purpose-built alternatives. Users focused exclusively on the Cardano ecosystem may find Cardano-native wallets offer deeper feature integration.
