Overview
KWICverse is a downloadable online role-playing game where you make a character, explore a shared world alongside other players, and take on missions1. It installs through a companion app called the KWIC Launcher and runs on a Windows computer rather than in a browser tab1. Anyone can play parts of the world for free with a preset character, while a members-only tier is being built for holders of approved KWIC NFTs, whose characters and items would be theirs to keep, sell, or upgrade2.
KWICverse comes from Keyboard Warriors Internet Cafe, the studio behind a wider set of products under the KWIC name: the game, the launcher, a staking dashboard, and the NFT collections the game draws on3. Its in-game economy rests on $KWIC, a Cardano native token with a fixed supply of 888,888,888 that is designed to buy in-game credits and to upgrade KWIC NFTs4. One game mode, KWIC JUNCTION, is playable in open beta1.
Key Features
- Play before owning anything. KWICverse lets anyone pick from a set of preset characters, among them Bitmap Punk and Cassie Konami, and explore parts of the world without buying an NFT first1.
- Characters and items that belong to the player. The members-only tier is designed so holders of approved KWIC NFTs would own their characters, rare items, and spaces outright, to sell on Cardano NFT marketplaces or hold to accrue $KWIC2.
- Runs on a modest computer. The listed minimum is 4 GB of memory, a GeForce 9800 GT or Radeon HD 4870 graphics card, and roughly 1 GB of space on 64-bit Windows1.
- In-game money that cannot leave the account. KWICverse Credits buy armour, weapons, cosmetics, and character upgrades. They stay tied to the account that earned them and cannot be passed to another player, keeping the in-game economy apart from the tradeable token5.
- Staking that never moves the NFTs. Approved KWIC NFTs accrue $KWIC while staying in the holder's own wallet. A stake runs a minimum of ten days before rewards can be claimed, and the 1 ADA charged per NFT is returned at claim time6.
What to Expect
You register an account on the KWICverse site, then install the KWIC Launcher, the app that downloads the game and keeps it patched1. Controls are the ones most PC players already know: WASD to move, Shift to run, Space to jump, and the mouse to swing the camera2.
Inside, KWIC JUNCTION is the one mode you can enter; STORY, ARCADE, and COLLAB CITY are listed as planned additions1. Free players get a stock character and a slice of the map; deeper customisation, tournaments, events, and wearables belong to the NFT-holder tier2.
For holders, much of the activity happens outside the game client. The KWIC Dashboard is where NFTs are staked and $KWIC is claimed, and where a holder can look up whether a given asset has already been claimed, by asset identifier or wallet address7.
