Overview
Virtua is a downloadable 3D world where players own the land they build on. You create an avatar, claim a plot on a shared island, put up a house, and get around by teleport or in a vehicle you own1. What you own is held as NFTs in your own wallet, so a plot, a building, or a car can be sold on to another player.
The Cardano-facing part of that world is Cardano Island, a region of Virtua Prime that the project frames as the Cardano community's home in the metaverse2. Land plots and condos there are player-owned NFTs on Cardano2. The vehicles that cross the island are NFT items too, though the wiki does not state which chain issues them3. Virtua's wider metaverse also carries licensed material from outside entertainment brands4.
Key Features
- A deed redeemed for one chosen plot. Virtua's wiki describes a Land Deed being redeemed for one specific plot during a claim event, with the deed destroyed once used, so a plot maps to a fixed set of coordinates on the island5.
- A house that doubles as a gallery. Landowners pick from a set of prefabricated buildings, from small cribs up to condos inside the Cardano Towers, and use the interior to display the NFT collection they already hold6.
- Plots that generate materials. The wiki documents land emitting in-game resources such as wood, iron, and gold into the owner's storage on a daily cycle, where they sit until claimed, with a scavenger bot able to take piles left uncollected7.
- Travel by teleport or by vehicle. Teleportation is the default way to move between places. Owners of vehicle NFTs, among them race cars, patrol cars, yachts, helicopters, and fighter jets, can drive or fly across the island instead3.
- Robot avatars with licensed editions. VFLECTs are Virtua's collectible robot avatars, some produced with outside entertainment brands. New accounts start with a free non-tradable one, so a player has an avatar before buying anything8.
What to Expect
Cardano Island is something you download and install rather than open in a browser tab1. The wiki describes the Virtua Hub as the arrival point, a central building holding marketplaces, game lounges, asset exchanges, and portals out to the rest of the map9.
The island leans into the Cardano community rather than generic fantasy. Landmarks include a Cardano HQ building, an education space called Academy Centra, and three condo towers of 1,000 units each, set beside 9,999 open plots in the island's C Zone2. The project's wiki documents owner-run groups built around the vehicles, including a yacht club and a flight squadron3.
Documentation lives in a public wiki rather than a manual, with sections on the world, land and its attributes, the avatars, and the roadmap4. It sets out the island's design as a whole. The people behind Virtua are named there and come out of the traditional games industry: the chairman previously ran development at Ocean Software, and the operating lead arrived from Microsoft, THQ, and Warner Bros10.
